There is a certain undeniable irony afoot here with this Senate “trial”. For nearly three years now Trump has been crying, yelling, kicking, screaming and, of course, tweeting about how all of the investigations and questions surrounding him, how he conducts business and his election are a scam, hoax, witch hunt, a sham. And yet, in all likelihood, it will be the biggest and most obvious sham of a Senate “trial”, organized by Mitch McConnell, which will let Trump off for crimes and malfeasance even the most blind among us can plainly see. The game here is about winners and losers. Not about right over wrong. This is the fundamental dichotomy, contradiction of this country. Is winning more important than right prevailing? It is clear what Mitch McConnell and a majority of Senate Republicans think on this.
